IN HER CIRCLE
A MOVEMENT FOR POSTPARTUM MENTAL HEALTH
Raising awareness, building community, and funding access to postpartum mental health care.
Our Health System is Failing Mothers
The transition into motherhood is often portrayed as joyful, but it is also one of the most vulnerable periods in a woman’s life. When a mother is not supported, her well-being and her baby’s are at risk.
Perinatal mental health challenges affect a significant number of families in British Columbia, yet most go unseen, undiagnosed, and unsupported. Support often ends just weeks after birth, replaced by isolation and difficult-to-navigate systems.

The Reality
1 in 4 women experience a mental health challenge during pregnancy or postpartum
Suicide is a leading cause of death in the first year postpartum
Our system is fragmented, difficult to navigate, and too often unavailable in moments of crisis.
When more serious challenges arise, families often face:
- 3-6 month waitlists for group support
- Limited access to timely, specialized care
- No mother-and-baby hospital care
- Little to no outpatient support after discharge

Raising Funds For Better Care
In Her Circle is a community-led movement working to close gaps in postpartum mental health care.
In May 2026, we began by raising funds to provide immediate, accessible peer group support for mothers, where traditional health systems fall short.
Together, we’ve raised $32,000 for drop-in and responsive programming through the Pacific Post Partum Support Society, so that families can access care when it is needed most – and not months later.
Now, we are raising our fundraising goal to $50,000 and setting our sights on systems change through storytelling and advocacy.
We will push for policy, new models and investment that changes outcomes for families – specifically in the prevention of maternal suicide.
Stories change culture. Through conversation, creative work, and witnessing of stories we will bring perinatal mental health out of the shadows and into public consciousness.
This next phase is about moving from reacting to a tragedy, to preventing the next one.
